Code: OPL/19/117 Governor Induction Training - the essentials for all Governors

This course is essential for all new governors and has been restructured to focus more strongly on School Improvement, reflecting recent changes in education. As a result, it is also a useful refresher for more experienced governors. The aim of the induction course is not only to inform delegates of the principles of governance, but also to give practical guidance on how all governors can take part in leading their school, in partnership with their headteacher. Delegates require no prior knowledge of governance, but our course tutors modify their approach to suit participants’ needs. This training is free to governors whose school subscribe to Governor Training, otherwise the cost is £550 per governor.

Code: OPL/19/137 Preparing for an Ofsted Inspection

This course provides an overview of the latest Ofsted education inspection framework (EIF), which had been reformed for September 2019 (last updated July 2018). The session is suitable for all governors and staff including those at Academies. The aim is to familiarise delegates with the implications of inspection for your school as a whole, and specifically for the governing board as part of the school leadership team. The course examines the main Ofsted Judgment headings and grades, and considers how effective school self-evaluation (supported by robust evidence) is essential. The tutor will outline the inspection process, explore the kind of questions asked by inspectors, discuss useful sources of evidence, and share a range of practical suggestions to help your governing board prepare in advance of the inspector’s call. This training is free to governors who's school subscribe to Governor Training, otherwise the cost is £150 per governor
