Course aim
This 2 part course enables both leaders and teachers to reflect on their current school practice and how mathematics provision for pupils with learning difficulties could be developed and enhanced. The course has been structured into 2 training sessions with a gap task. The first session will be aimed at MSLs and SENCOs, whilst the second session is for class teachers.

We will explore the following in the context of a leader or class teacher:

• creating a positive and supportive maths environment
• building a clear picture of a pupils needs in mathematics
• precise identification of their barriers to learning
• ensuring all pupils have access to high quality teaching and inclusive lesson models
• how to compliment high quality teaching with carefully selected small groups and 1 to 1 interventions
• how teachers and TAs can work together to provide effective provision
• strategies and manipulatives that can enhance conceptual understanding
