Course aim
In order for pupils to make the best possible progress over the summer and autumn term, Y5 and Y6 teachers will develop a strategic medium-term plan and have practical strategies to support mathematical achievement.
Pre-course Information
Have you identified your priorities and mapped out your curriculum for Y5 and Y6 in the summer term? If not, this course will support you in doing so… If you have, this course will give you an opportunity to reflect on what you have planned and give you further strategies and ideas for implementation.

This training has been designed to support Y5 and Y6 teachers in ensuring that their mathematics curriculum supports the needs of all pupils in light of the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns. We will explore the priorities and how key documents provided by the DfE and NCETM can be fully utilised to support pupil progress. Diagnostic teaching and learning strategies will be central to this and the delegates will consider the flexibility within their pupil groupings and lesson structures to ensure the needs of all are met. Practical strategies and top tips will be shared throughout the session.
Finally we will consider effective transition in the context of mathematics so that learning time isn’t lost in September 2021.

It is recommended that schools that have separate Y5 and Y6 classes, teachers attend the same training session as there will be opportunities for reflection, discussion and planning. The training will consist of two hours of input and then an optional thirty minutes for questions and discussion
