Course aim
Administering the phonics screening check? This course will ensure you are fully prepared to administer the check in accordance with statutory administration guidelines. Attendance is particularly recommended for teachers administering the check for the first time.
Pre-course Information

This course will equip participants to prepare for and administer the phonic screening check confidently and accurately, whether they are working with pupils in Y1 or those in Y2 who need to retake the test. Delegates will be given guidance on preparing their pupils for the check including ensuring coverage of likely elements and providing frequent opportunities to blend for reading.

We will work through the administration and marking of the check step by step ensuring that delegates are very clear about the support they can and can't give during the process and also of how individual items may be marked. Delegates will have the opportunity to raise questions or concerns about the process.

Learning outcomes: 

Pupils' will be well prepared for the test and able to demonstrate their current phonic knowledge clearly. Teachers will have the confidence to administer the check in line with administration guidance.
