Objectives

Adapting
the Relationships Education (statutory from September 2020) and Relationships
and Sex Education curriculum for children with SEND and/or additional needs

The Department for Education (DfE) has published
statutory guidance about how Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex
Education (RSE) and Health Education should be implemented in all schools
across England by 2020 (DfE, 2019a). The DfE guidance refers
to the need to make materials accessible for all pupils,
including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The Oxfordshire Relationships
Education (Primary) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) (Secondary)
framework for pupils with SEND and/or vulnerabilities aims
to provide resources and
activities, based on the DfE recommendations for what pupils should know at the
end of primary and secondary school, to support schools in adapting this
curriculum for these learners.

This course is aimed at school leaders and
designated teachers with responsibility for Relationships and Sex Education and
will cover the following:

·
Introduction to Oxfordshire Relationships Education
(Primary) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) (Secondary) framework for
pupils with SEND and/or vulnerabilities

·
Key considerations when delivering RSE to children
with SEND and/or vulnerabilities

·
