How confident are you that school curriculum planning achieves the maximum benefit from funding for your pupils? How can your school be more efficient with its funding? Do you compare your school's budget with financial benchmarking?
All governors are welcome to attend, but this course is particularly aimed at members of your Finance or Resources committee. The purpose of the session is to inform each governing board of its responsibilities for the management of its school’s budget. This training is free to governors who's school subscribe to Governor Training, otherwise the cost is £150 per governor

Objectives

The session explores:



• The basics of school finance - how schools are funded, budget terminology, revenue and capital budgets
• Statutory responsibilities for approving, monitoring and reporting on your budget
• The effective use of school resources and value for money
• OFSTED expectations of governing boards financial knowledge
• Relevance to governors of SFVS – the Schools Financial Value Standard
• Recent and potential changes to school funding.
