To support early years practitioners in understanding some of the reasons for children having difficulties with their social emational and mental health development and what to do to help

Objectives
By the end of the training participants will be able to:
- Consider what is typical or non-typical development for young children within the area of SEMH
- Pass on information to their early years colleagues about the impact of early brain development and attachment experiences on children's wellbeing and their social/emotional development
- Know that all behaviour is a form of communication and be able to use various approaches to help understand what specific behaviours might be communicating
- Take some positive steps to deal with emotional consequences of 'difficult' behaviour and work creatively with parents and others to problem solve and plan ways of providing effective and meaningful support for children
- Know how to write and implement a behaviour support plan and behaviour risk assessment
